Carbon Tax Worldwide
23% of all global GHG emissions were covered in 2023
The Global Pricing Dashboard made by the World Bank is one of the most complete overviews on regional, national and subnational carbon pricing initiatives worldwide. 23.17% of all global greenhouse gas emissions were covered in 2022 by an Emission Trading System (ETS) or carbon tax. Almost all industrialized nations have an ETS or carbon tax, with the notable exceptions of the United States and Russia. Only EU ETS aims to incorporate shipping emissions at the moment, others are expected to follow suit. The dashboard provides useful links and detailed information on the different initiatives.
